WHAT WE DO

At NYCC, we believe all students deserve access to quality STEM education. Our mission is to promote learning experience at the highest level and improve life outcomes for students.

Who we are?

National Youth Community Center (NYCC) is a non-profit organization that aims to provide STEM education to all levels to children in general, including children of single-parents, students from low-income families, refugee students, and gifted pupils in all fields of STEM. It is the first non-profit educational institution in the Los Angeles Koreatown that bring together students with the STEM field industry-experts.

Our programs

Currently, NYCC operates multiple after-school programs that focus on STEM education. We are also looking to partner with schools in Los Angeles Unified School District to provide STEM educational support. Some the services we can directly bring to your classroom are listed below. If you are interested in learning more about our partnering opportunity, please contact us at nycc.org@gmail.com

MathMinds

Student Level: Grades 4-8.

Our main curriculum prepares students for various math competitions, like Math Kangaroo, Math Olympiad (MOEMS) and AMC 8. In addition, we strengthen core mathematical skills via structured lesson plans individualized for each student.

Although the program is less than 1-year old, we are beginning to see the difference in students success in the form of improvement in school grades and competition math results.

Independent Research

Level: Grades 6-11

The goal of independent research is to teach students how to conduct research. Our class is divided into two phases: 1) Conceptualization and 2) Experimental. In phase 1, under the guidance of our PhD mentors, students convert interesting observations into scientific questions. In phase 2, students design and conduct experiments to tackle their scientific questions through the process of data analysis and interpretation.

We are proud that several research projects from our program have been recognized at various research competitions like the Los Angeles Engineering and Science Fair and California Science Fair.

Coding Club
Level: Grades 3-9

Our experienced computer science teachers can bring interactive coding experience directly to your classroom. For elementary to middle school students, our curriculum teaches visual programming language such as Scratch to improve students' logical and critical thinking skills.

For upper level students, our instructors are also ready to bring more advanced curriculum like basics of Python or Java.
